Let's Talk: Magnesium

Let's Talk: Magnesium

What is Magnesium?

Magnesium is a mineral supplement. Specifically, magnesium chloride used in topical applications is an ionic salt that is a solid white crystal. It looks similar to epsom salts or flaky sea salt. There are many different types of magnesium, but the magnesium chloride that I use in my magnesium products is best used for the skin. Many people love the benefits of magnesium - specifically related to reduction of aches and to aid in sleep!

Why use Magnesium?

Magnesium plays a vital role in over 300 biochemical reactions in the body, including muscle relaxation, nerve function, and energy production.

Benefits of Magnesium:

  • May help soothe muscle cramps and tension
  • May improve sleep quality by relaxing the body
  • Supports skin health and hydration
  • May promote calmness and stress relief

How to use it?

I make magnesium available in 3 forms so you can choose which is best for you! A quick and easy application with an oil spray, an on-the-go roller, or a body cream with 2 scent options. They all contain a 50% solution of magnesium chloride, so you are getting the same benefits in all products just in a different application. Some people do not like the feeling of oil on their skin, some don't like lotion, so it just provides everyone with something to try!

The best way to use magnesium is to apply to the bottom of your feet, stomach, and/or legs 30 minutes to 1 hour before bedtime. Some people feel drowsy with the use of magnesium. This is normal for some people! We all react in various ways with products so be sure to do a small area of skin first before you apply over your entire body.

Other areas to apply could be: problem/pain areas, under the arms (works as a natural deodorant). Do not apply to the face! It is a salt base so it will burn your eyes as well as open cuts and wounds.

NOTE : some people feel a tingle when using magnesium. This is also normal for most people! Why tingle? This means that you are deficient in magnesium. I felt a tingle after use of the product for 6 months before I stopped feeling the sensation! DO NOT apply on severely dry skin or after a hot shower if you do not like the harsher tingle feeling! You can apply a body lotion before and do the magnesium on top and it will still do the trick!

I hope that if you try magnesium that you get all of the benefits you are searching for. Every one of us experiences things differently especially when it comes to skin care and needs. I hope this is something simple that can make a difference for you!
